The Marangu Route is one of the most established and accessible routes on Mount Kilimanjaro and is the only route where trekkers stay in mountain huts rather than tents throughout the climb. Often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” it follows a well-defined trail through several distinct ecological zones, from cultivated foothills and rainforest to alpine desert and the high-altitude summit zone.
This itinerary combines a 5-day ascent and descent via the Marangu Route with an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Huts. Although the route is less technical than some other Kilimanjaro routes, the significant altitude gain makes acclimatization, pacing, hydration, and preparation essential. Adding an extra day at Horombo provides more time for your body to adjust to the altitude and can improve your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak.
Your climb is organized by Marhaba Escape Safari, with an experienced mountain guide, accommodation before and after the climb, meals during the trek, and transfers to and from the mountain.
