After an early breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Arusha National Park. At Momella Gate, complete the required registration and meet your trekking team before beginning your ascent.

The trail initially passes through the lower slopes of Mount Meru and gradually enters beautiful montane forest. This section of the route provides an opportunity to experience the mountain’s rich biodiversity, and wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and a variety of bird species may be encountered.

Continue along the forest trail as the elevation gradually increases toward Miriakamba Hut. Take time to appreciate the changing vegetation and views as you climb higher into the mountain environment.

Upon reaching Miriakamba Hut, settle into your accommodation, enjoy dinner, and rest ahead of the more demanding stages of the trek.

Begin the day early with the most demanding section of your Mount Meru trek. From Miriakamba Hut, continue ascending toward Saddle Hut, passing through forest before gradually entering the open moorland zone.

As you gain elevation, the vegetation becomes increasingly sparse and the volcanic landscape more dramatic. From Saddle Hut, take a short break before continuing toward the summit.

The final ascent to Socialist Peak, at approximately 4,566 metres, involves steeper terrain and sections of exposed ridge. Continue carefully with your mountain guide toward the summit, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views into Mount Meru’s crater and across the surrounding landscape.

On clear days, you may also see Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance. Spend some time at the summit to appreciate the achievement and take photographs before beginning the descent.

Return toward Saddle Hut for dinner and overnight rest.

After breakfast, begin your descent from Saddle Hut. Follow the trail back toward Miriakamba Hut, continuing through the changing vegetation as you gradually lose elevation.

The descent provides a different perspective of the landscapes experienced during the ascent, with opportunities to enjoy the forest, volcanic scenery, and views across Arusha National Park.

Continue toward Momella Gate, where you will complete the necessary exit formalities and meet your Marhaba Escape Safari driver.

From the gate, transfer back to Arusha, where your 3-day Mount Meru trekking adventure concludes.
