Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be met by your Marhaba Escape Safari representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha.

The remainder of the day is free to relax and settle in after your journey. Enjoy the surroundings of your accommodation, prepare for the safari ahead, and rest before an early start the following morning.

If your arrival time allows, you may also have the opportunity to explore parts of Arusha or arrange an optional activity before returning to your accommodation for the evening.

After breakfast, meet your private safari guide and depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park. The journey takes you through the landscapes of northern Tanzania, including Maasai communities, traditional villages, open plains, and scattered acacia trees.

Tarangire is particularly famous for its large elephant herds and enormous baobab trees. The park’s landscape changes with the seasons, incorporating open savannah, woodland, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River, which provides an important source of water for wildlife during the dry season.

During your game drive, look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, antelopes, and numerous bird species. With luck, you may also encounter predators such as lions and leopards, sometimes spotted moving through the grasslands or resting in the branches of trees.

After an extensive game drive, continue to your accommodation in the Tarangire or Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.

Upon reaching the crater rim, descend into the approximately 600-metre-deep caldera for a game drive across its diverse landscape of grasslands, woodland, wetlands, and lake areas.

The crater supports an exceptional concentration of wildlife throughout the year. During your exploration, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, lions, and other predators. The crater is also one of the places where you may have an opportunity to spot the endangered black rhinoceros.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before continuing your game drive. Later in the afternoon, ascend from the crater and proceed to your accommodation in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, your final safari destination on this journey.

Although relatively compact, Lake Manyara offers an impressive variety of landscapes and habitats, ranging from groundwater forests and woodland to open grasslands and the shallow alkaline lake itself. The park supports a diverse range of wildlife and is particularly known for its large baboon troops, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife.

Keep an eye out for Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, which may sometimes be seen resting in the branches of acacia trees. The lake can also attract large concentrations of flamingos and other waterbirds depending on the season.

After your game drive and lunch, drive back toward Arusha for your onward flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your beach accommodation on the island.

Spend the next three days exploring and relaxing along the northern coast of Zanzibar, based in or around Nungwi.

Located at the northern tip of Zanzibar, Nungwi combines a beautiful tropical beach with a lively coastal community and a long tradition of dhow boat building. Today, it is one of Zanzibar’s most popular beach destinations, offering a range of experiences both on and off the water.

Enjoy time on the white-sand beach, swim in the warm Indian Ocean, or take part in optional activities such as snorkeling, diving, fishing, dhow cruises, and other water-based excursions. The surrounding waters also provide access to popular marine areas around Mnemba Island and nearby reefs.

For a more cultural experience, explore the village, discover traditional dhow craftsmanship, cycle through the surrounding area, or simply slow down with a relaxed day by the ocean. Yoga and other wellness activities can also be arranged depending on your accommodation.

These days are intentionally flexible, giving you the freedom to balance relaxation with exploration after several days of safari.

Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Zanzibar and have breakfast at your accommodation. Depending on your departure time, you may have some free time to enjoy the beach, take a final walk along the coast, or simply relax before your transfer.

At the appropriate time, your Marhaba Escape Safari representative will transfer you to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport or the seaport for your onward journey.

Your 8-day Tanzania safari and Zanzibar beach holiday comes to an end, leaving you with memories of Tarangire’s elephants and baobabs, the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara’s diverse landscapes, and the tropical beaches of Zanzibar.
